The officials and staff of the MOS are constantly looking for ways to improve the cruise experience and we are considering adding a second ship, possibly the Ketchup of the Seas, the KOS, to our fleet. This would be another truly inspiring innovation to the cruisline industry. If all negotiations come to a successful conclusion we hope to be adding a ship that will become a year round U. S. Olympic training site. This ship would certainly offer the passengers the normal cruise amenities and also would allow the passengers to view the olympians in training and to be able, at certain times, to interact with them. If there was not enough room for people to view certain training activities in person there would also be provided TV viewing in the food courts, many of the lounges and in the passenger staterooms. In the evening the auditorium would provide Olympic event films and the athletes themselves could narate the events that were being shown to the audience and that would be followed by a Q & A session.
There would be many challenges in order to provide training for both the winter and the summer olympic athletes on board the KOS. The winter events would have to be held inside the ship where heavy duty A/C would be installed along with extra capacity insulation. There would be on the lower deck two ice skating rinks, one for figure skating and hockey and the other larger rink for the speed skating events. The other events would be more technically challenging, namely the skiing and snowboarding events. To provide meaningful training for the downhill skiing or the snowboarders we would install something like a large astroturf type of carpet, white, that would be on a platform with rollers. When one end was raised it would provide the downhill effect as the carpet would roll up towards them and the greater degree of left the steeper the simulated hill would be. We could add granulated plastic pellets to the skiing surface to create icy, light snow or deep snow conditions. With the addition of hydraulics we could make for a smooth, bumpy or an uneven surface and have room for another competitor to be skiing right beside of them. All of this would take place with a large panoramic screen in front of them, a controlled wind blast and surround sound all tied together on a computer. Every skiing location known could be loaded into the computer and the athletes could practice at any location in the world from this one location. There would be light beams to locate the gates as the skiier approached them and these images would match up with the gates on the screen and the athletes could practice their techniques. All of this would be video taped for them to be able to review with their coach later on.
It gets a little more challenging for the ski jumpers to be able to experience meaningful training. There are currently virtual reality training cubes for pilots to train in. We have created a virtual reality cube that would be large enough for a ski jumper to be able to use for training. This would tilt up to simulate the steep ramp and have wind, cold and a screen with surround sound for additional realism. The skiier would jump off the end of the ramp and then use the wind to "fly" down the hill and land on the bottom of the slope. Again, all of this would be computerized for the full effect. All of this would be video taped for later review by both the skiier and the coach. This same kind of cube could be utilized by those competing in bobsled, luge and skeleton events.
For the summer olympics there would need to be an in indoor basketball court that could also be used for volleyball, badmitton practice and gymnastics. Also, two Olympic size swimming pools would be indoors to allow for swimmers and for divers to train in. The track and field events would be set up on the outer deck and would include a running track, hurdles, pole vault, high jump and broad jump. The javelin and shot put athletes would train indoors in a simulated area such as we currently use for golf training and analyzing. Of course the spa and weight and workout rooms would be set aside for the athletes during certain hours for their ongoing training. Specialized diets would be providied for all of the athletes.
The KOS would offer Olympic attire, souveniers, specially created food and drink items and videos available for purchase at our various food courts and shops. Don't miss out, be one of the first to sign up for our very special cruise offering on the new and exciting Ketchup Of the Seas.
