MOS F2F meetings
Mustard Festival August 2007
We made it through the night with no surprises. Woke up to cloudy, overcast skies, so I blasted the fog horn several times to alert our fellow campers to our presence in the harbor. Lots of assorted wheel-based ships here. We are surrounded by dingys and some Freedom-sized ships. I can only wonder if there will be a mad rush to the grand Mustard Festival in an hour or so. May have to position ourselves for a front-of-the-line fast start.
Breaking News...... Angie, Cinders, Mustard Bottle & RPC
We're seriously considering quitting our day jobs.... Angie, Cinders & RPC singing the weiner song
Day's End - Mustard Festival Angie, Cinders & RPC eating Mustard Marshmallows This happens if you overindulge
The sun is definitely trying to break through now. It's shining brightly in a golden-mustard tribute. Looks like we'll be in a store for a beautiful day for the festival. I'm starting my 2nd cup of coffee with a dollop of mustard for good measure and then will don the official MOS uniform soon and head off to Mount Horeb to rondeveous (spelling off, but so am I ) with RPC.
To be continued.........
Breaking News.......
Just had a Strawberry to Strawberry (to be known as S2S) with Lt-HR. CCO Angie was driving at NASCAR speeds because a detour took them way off the planned route. This delay means they are missing the opening ceremonies. Fortunately RPCindy IS there to cover this important part of the Mustard Festival.
S2S connection was then lost. Hopefully when a connection is re-established, Lt-HR will report back with news of the festival!
Breaking News Part 2......
Just had an Ear 2 Ear (E2E) with RPCindy.
Opening ceremonies were delayed! As she was updating me, a car was seen speeding into a nearby parking lot and Lt-HR and CCO were spotted running at breakneck speed to arrive breathless but excited to join RPC for the ceremony.
We signed off as welcomes were being exchanged and the band was preparing to play Roll Out the Mustard!
RPC did report that Poupon U Fight Song would offically kick start the festivities.
Breaking News, Part 3.....
Another E2E has just taken place! The crew is having a blast!
They have tried the Mustard Custard and RPC reports that it has a bite to it.
Lt-HR, CCO Angie, and RPCindy have entertained the masses with a rendition of the Oscar Meyer Weiner Song. In about one week, they will be able to view this online and hopefully share it with the rest of us.
RPC has been offered $3.00 for her Mustard colored boa! No Sale!
They are currently watching a game show, Mustard or No Mustard..... or something like that.
Rain is threatening but so far only a few sprinkles that has not detoured our crew from having fun.
RPC is blown away that there is actually such a thing as wi-fi in the campground. HELLO....this is no ordinary campground....it's a port-of-call! Unfortunately though....we are out of Strawberry contact once again.
RPC taught me a new technical term for the digital camera. Have you ever heard of the PHD button? That's the button you press to take a picture. Why PHD you ask? I asked and was kindly told "Press Here Dummy". Guess I could have used that advice for the opening ceremony - I thought I was recording it but alas....I didn't hit the PHD button. Sorry!
We were overwhelmed by the sea of yellow and there was mustard everywhere. Everyone in the MOS crew should experience this at least once.
So, here's some pictures from the Mustard Festival. Full report to follow....
We sang the Oscar Mayer weiner song and brought the crowd to their feet (and some to tears). Does not matter that everyone was standing anyway.
We were met with raucous applause and pleas for more... We wanted to break into our rendition of the B-O-L-O-G-N-A song, but we were restricted to one song unless we got back in line!
I'm thinking we'll be invited back next year for the main stage......
As the crowd faded in our rear-view mirror and we headed north, the sky opened up with a light drizzle. We looked at each other, knowing that we had stayed ahead of the crowd all day. Beat the rush for the free hotdogs, for the singing, for the mustard bowling, for the mustard ring-toss...and we left just as the crowds became impassable. We predict that next year's festival will cover a full three-block area.
Reviews of mustard edibles we sampled:
Mustard custard.....sweet and tangy with a zippy finish
Mustard pasta........sweet and zippy with a tangy finish
Mustard potato salad... zippy and tangy with a sweet finish (definitely needed salt)
Every frickin' mustard you can think of with a pretzel rod - mustard that was hot, zesty, sweet, fruity, veggie, boozie, dijon, worldly, and plain old yellow....need I say more....it was good....IT WAS MUSTARD!
Engaged in a rousing game of Mustard Rummy. After five rounds, the score showed RPC as the winner. RPC=145, Lt-HR=150 & E-CCO=230.
Answered our mustard cravings with delicious marshmallows slathered in mustard (proof attached).
